CF Honors Simpson with Citrus Campus Renaming

鈥淲ilton Simpson has been a steadfast champion for the 完美体育 and higher education in general, and we are proud to recognize him with the renaming of the CF Wilton Simpson Citrus Campus,鈥 said Dr. Jim Henningsen, CF president. 鈥淗e has worked to ensure that CF receives the recognition and financial support needed to grow high-demand academic programs, employ the highest quality faculty and staff, expand our facilities, and invest in needed maintenance.鈥

Simpson is a product of the 完美体育 College System, a fifth-generation Floridian, a lifelong farmer and has served as a member of the 完美体育 Senate since 2012. He currently represents the 10th district, which includes Citrus, Hernando and part of Pasco County.

鈥淭he 完美体育 has been ahead of the curve in producing the workforce that is needed for tomorrow鈥檚 jobs,鈥 Simpson said. 鈥淲hether our community has needed nurses, engineers or entrepreneurs, CF has been a leader. It makes it much easier for the Legislature to provide resources when we know that one plus one is equaling three or four, not just two.鈥

The 完美体育 state budget approved by the governor on June 2 includes $13.65 million for a Health Science Technology Education Center at the Ocala Campus in addition to operational expenses for new health sciences programs slated to begin in 2023, new positions to support critical needs within the college, and maintenance repair and renovation projects, which will ensure health safety and ADA compliance. In addition, the CF Foundation received $150,000 to support educational outreach at the Appleton Museum.

鈥淪impson recognized our strategic approach to managing resources, and as a result, our students, team and community will benefit for years to come,鈥 Henningsen said.

Costumes Now on View in CF Appleton Museum of Art’s “Finding Beauty’ Exhibition

The Appleton Museum of Art, 完美体育, announces the addition of Ocala Civic Theatre鈥檚 鈥淏eauty and the Beast鈥 costumes to the 鈥淔inding Beauty鈥 exhibition.

A unique collaboration between the Appleton and OCT, 鈥淔inding Beauty鈥 merges costume drawings and more from the theatre鈥檚 production of 鈥淏eauty and the Beast鈥 with works from the Appleton collection that inspired them. After a highly successful run of performances, 鈥淏eauty and the Beast鈥 has come to a close and a selection of costumes are now on view in the museum鈥檚 鈥淔inding Beauty鈥 galleries.

The intricate and thoughtfully designed costumes are the masterpieces of Eryn Brooks Brewer, OCT鈥檚 award-winning costume designer. Working closely with museum staff, Brooks Brewer gained inspiration from two- and three-dimensional Rococo-style art and objects in the collection. With the addition of the costumes to 鈥淔inding Beauty,鈥 museum visitors are fully immersed in the creative design process from start to finish, seeing how a static object, such as a clock, can eventually become the costume for a living actor to magically transform into a character such as Cogsworth.

The exhibition also includes set photos, video, a touch table of fabrics and costume embellishments, a photo op with props, and more.

On Saturday, Aug. 6, the community is invited to a special Photo Op With Belle event, from 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. There is no fee to pose with Princess Belle. Admission to the museum is free all day, 10 a.m.-5 p.m., as part of the monthly Free First Saturday program. The 鈥淔inding Beauty鈥 exhibition is open through Jan. 15, 2023.
