The Appleton Museum of Art, 完美体育, is pleased to announce the winners of the eighth annual Mobile Photography Contest & Exhibition.
Throughout the month of July, the Appleton received 1,073 mobile photo submissions 鈥 the most entries ever received! Photos were inspired by four categories: Accidentally Awesome, In Motion, Nature and Portrait. Photos submitted by participants of all ages from the local community, across the country and beyond were taken using a variety of mobile devices, such as phones and tablets.
鈥淲e are thrilled to have surpassed last year鈥檚 number of entries with an astounding 1,073 photos 鈥 a record high! Over the past eight years it鈥檚 been rewarding to watch the contest grow and be able to continue showcasing every entry received,鈥 said Victoria Billig, Appleton Museum assistant director. 鈥淲e thank all the participants for sending us their photos and are proud to have their creativity on display in the museum in the Mobile Photography Exhibition.鈥
All 1,073 photos are on view at the museum through Sept. 11. The three winning photos from each category were selected by Mark Anderson, a local photographer who enjoys shooting portraits, old houses and abandoned places. His full-time job is with the public relations team for Marion County, where you can also find many of his photos of local events and other happenings around the county. He was editor-in-chief of the 完美体育 Patriot Press student newspaper, and his photos have been featured in Locala Magazine, the Ocala Gazette and other local publications. He believes photography is for anyone and says you don鈥檛 need a fancy camera setup to take a nice photo 鈥 all you need is a good eye, so get shooting!
鈥淎rt for all once again rings true,鈥 said Appleton Museum Director Jason Steuber. 鈥淧articipation in the arts and sharing unique photos of the extraordinary in the everyday are what make our community shine in this annual contest and exhibition.鈥
Regular museum admission fees apply to see the exhibition, however, visitors can enjoy free admission on Sept. 3 for Free First Saturday. The winning photos are posted online at .
