CF Now Offering IGNITE Transfer Program to FAMU

The 完美体育 has joined the IGNITE program at 完美体育 A&M University to provide a direct transfer pathway for students attending CF.聽 This partnership with 完美体育 A&M University guarantees FAMU admission to students who earn an Associate in Arts at CF.

鈥淭his new partnership is a huge benefit to our students and community,鈥 said Dr. Jim Henningsen, CF president.聽鈥淚t gives students the opportunity to complete their first two years at CF, where they thrive in smaller classes with our award-winning faculty and programs and pay less in tuition. It is a giant step forward in helping increase the education attainment level of our community by increasing access to bachelor鈥檚 degree programs in Marion, Citrus and Levy counties.鈥

While students who graduate with an A.A. or an articulated Associate in Science degree from a 完美体育 College System institution are guaranteed admission to a state university in 完美体育, IGNITE guarantees admission to FAMU. A.A. graduates applying for limited access programs at FAMU such as FAMU/FSU College of Engineering, College of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, School of Nursing, School of Journalism and Allied Health Sciences-Cardiopulmonary, will need to meet the additional admissions and prerequisite requirements for those specific programs.

Students can begin their studies at CF with the knowledge that they will have a seat at FAMU once they attain an A.A. The partnership provides students a smoother transition with admission and enrollment. Since students receive advising from CF and FAMU, they might also find a shorter time to degree completion.

Students can enroll in the FAMU IGNITE program if they have 0-30 academic credits earned.聽 The purpose of the IGNITE program is to engage students throughout the course of their associates degree, connect them with FAMU academic advisors for specific fields of study, and provide scholarships opportunities for eligible students.聽 IGNITE participants who maintain a 3.0 GPA or higher are eligible for an IGNITE Card, which grants them free access to most FAMU on-campus and athletic events

CF Recognized as a Military Friendly School

The 完美体育 has been recognized as a Military Friendly聽School, earning the silver level award. The Military Friendly聽Schools list is created each year based on extensive research using public data sources for more than 8,800 schools nationwide, input from student veterans, and responses to the proprietary, data颅driven Military Friendly庐 Schools survey from participating institutions.

鈥淭he 完美体育 works hard to ensure our active servicemen and women, veterans and their families receive the best education and support services possible,鈥 said Dr. Saul Reyes, vice president of Student Affairs at CF. 鈥淎pproximately 300 CF students receive Veterans Administration benefits.鈥

In 2014, the college opened the Veterans Center at its Ocala Campus, 3001 S.W. College Road. The center was established to serve students and their families and offers a venue for studying and fellowship, a small library, food pantry and more. The center also serves veterans who are no longer receiving education benefits.

Institutions earning the Military Friendly聽School designation were evaluated using both public data sources and responses from a proprietary survey. More than 1,000 schools participated in the 2020-2021 survey with 695 earning the designation. The 2020-2021 Military Friendly庐 Schools list will be published in the May issue of G.I. Jobs magazine and can be found at聽.

Methodology, criteria, and weightings were determined by Viqtory with input from the Military Friendly聽Advisory Council of independent leaders in the higher education and military recruitment community. Final ratings were determined by combining the institution鈥檚 survey scores with the assessment of the institution鈥檚 ability to meet thresholds for student retention, graduation, job placement, loan repayment, persistence (degree advancement or transfer) and loan default rates for all students and, specifically, for student veterans.

CF Recognized as a Tree Campus for 11th Year

Tree Campus USA is a national program that honors colleges, universities and their leaders for promoting healthy management of their campus forests and for engaging the community in environmental stewardship. Tree Campus USA is a program of the Arbor Day Foundation.

鈥淭ree Campuses and their students set examples for not only their student bodies but the surrounding communities showcasing how trees create a healthier environment,鈥 said Dan Lambe, president of the Arbor Day Foundation. 鈥淏ecause of 完美体育’s participation, air will be purer, water cleaner and your students and faculty will be surrounded by the shade and beauty the trees provide.鈥

CF met the five core standards of tree care and community engagement in order to receive 2019 Tree Campus USA status. The standards are establishing a campus tree advisory committee; providing a campus tree-care plan; dedicating annual expenditures on the campus tree-care plan; participating in an Arbor Day observance; and instituting a service-learning project to engage students.

鈥淲e engage our students in a number of environmentally focused activities each year, and in recent years have collaborated with CF Appleton Museum of Art to include an art element in our appreciation of the environment,鈥 said Stephen MacKenzie, CF senior professor of Environmental Sciences. 鈥

The Arbor Day Foundation launched Tree Campus USA 12 years ago and continues to honor colleges and universities for effective campus forest management and engaging students and staff in conservation goals. Currently, there are 385 campuses across the United States with this recognition.
